What is Peripheral Neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy is a condition where nerves are damaged causing weakness, burning pain, numbness, tingling, and debilitating balance problems. The damage to the nerves can be caused by many different problems in the body. Poor blood flow to the nerves, toxic levels of sugar in the blood (diabetes), chronic infections, pesticide exposure, auto-immune disorders and genetic variants are a few of the causes of this debilitating condition. The cause is different for every patient and it must be discovered to help the nerves heal!
Generally, symptoms of peripheral neuropathy in an effected area include:
- Numbness/Tingling
- Burning Pain
- Unusual and/or loss of sensations
- Muscle weakness
- Deep Stabbing Pain
- Balance Problems

Can Peripheral Nerves Heal?
Yes! It is well established in the scientific literature that peripheral nerves can and do heal. The key issue is that not only do we need to get the nerves healing but we have to stop whatever is causing the nerve damage in the first place. When the underlying cause of the neuropathy is discovered and proper support for the nerves are provided it optimizes the ability for the nerves to heal!
The treatment we provide has four main goals…
Optimize the environment within the body for nerve healing.
Increase blood flow to the nerves.
Stimulate the nerves that are damaged (small fiber, large diameter, or motor nerves) to reduce pain and improve balance. Decrease brain-based pain.
Our exclusive treatment system at one of the nation’s top neuropathy treatment centers increases blood flow to the nerves in the feet and/or hands, which helps to rejuvenate nerves naturally and has returned many of our patient’s feet and/or hands to normal. No surgery. No addictive medications.
Our proprietary and comprehensive treatment program utilizes up to 8 different state-of-the-art technologies and is unlike any treatment program you may have already experienced.
The amount of treatment needed to allow the nerves to recover varies from person to person and can only be determined after a detailed neurological and vascular evaluation.

Paige Johnson – Office Manager
I am from the small town of Hooper NE, where I graduated high school from Logan View in 2013. I then moved to Omaha to study Pre-Med at UNO. In 2014 I moved to Alliance, NE and attended CSC studying Elementary Education. From the years of 2014-2019 I worked in Elementary Special Education in Alliance. In 2019, I moved to Lincoln to be closer to family after having children and continued with my passion for Elementary Special Education. I resigned from Lincoln Public Schools in May of 2021 with full intentions of being a stay at home mom.
In December of 2021, a job opportunity fell into my lap with the flexibility needed as a full time Mother. It was in that instance that I started with Asuta Health. I am a mother of 3 children: Creighton, Brixton, and Giah. I enjoy taking my kids to do anything outdoors or spending time at the family farm. The kids have gotten to grow up enjoying both city and farm life. It has been a fun experience to have the “best of both worlds.” Things I enjoy doing myself are golfing, Husker events and live music. What I value most about my job is the bond I get to build with patients. There is nothing better than seeing the value built in a patient because of the care they receive and the results they encounter while working with us at Asuta Health.

Kelsey – Therapy Assistant / X-ray Tech
Hi! I graduated high school from Minden, and continued my education for a few years at Central Community College. I moved to Lincoln in 2020 to further my education and decided to plant my roots for a while. When I am not at work, I enjoy hanging out with my dog Tootsie! She is a chocolate lab with lots of energy, so we find ourselves going on lots of walks, taking hikes and being around any form of water she can find.
A few other things I enjoy doing in my free time are spending time with family & friends, playing golf, and traveling often. Asuta Health is such a blessing of a job to have. I am able to interact with people from all walks of life and hear their story. One of my favorite things about this job is knowing how much our programs can help heal our patients, and how thankful they are to us after completing care.
